The UNLV Symphony Orchestra returns to the stage to perform works of Martinu, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich in the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall Stage at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Oct. 27.
The program will explore the music of Martinu, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich and will feature soloist Grace Haeun Kim. Music Director Taras Krysa will conduct the orchestra.

Grace is a Las Vegas teacher and a pianist who has performed in different states and countries. She was invited to give a solo recital as a Steinway Artist in Puerto Rico, playing works by E. Granados, J.N. Hummel, and S. Prokofiev. In addition, she has played Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major by S. Prokofiev with Chernihiv Philharmonic Orchestra in Ukraine and was invited back to perform Piano Concerto No.2 in Bb major by J. Brahms.
Grace was born in South Korea, where she began her piano career. She has played in many solo recitals and concerts, won competitions, and worked as a collaborative pianist. She graduated from Las Vegas Academy as a piano major. As a high school student, Grace won school and local competitions that allowed her to perform with various high school and local orchestras.
She received a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in piano performance and Masters of Music Education from UNLV. Currently, she is working as the piano program director at Ed W. Clark High School. She will continue her study by pursuing Artist Diploma with Dr. Mykola Suk at UNLV.
Future concerts of the UNLV Symphony Orchestra include Nov. 23 featuring the music of Bruck, Vaughan Williams, and Elgar; Feb. 16, featuring the music of Richard Strauss, Bach's festival on Mar. 27 and a Mahler's Symphony No. 2 on May 8. The ticket price is $15, and $10 discounted tickets for the in-person event are available to seniors, military members, UNLV faculty and staff, and all students.
