A Public Fit presents the First Reading of the Season

A Public Fit opens its 2021-22 reading season with a staged reading of Gloria by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. As the popularity of APF's Stage Reading Series continues to grow, there will be two opportunities to enjoy these productions with performances on Friday, Oct. 22, and Saturday, Oct. 23.

This darkest of dark comedies focuses on a group of millennial office workers—aspiring writers who spend most of their time battling the monotony of their daily routines. But a sudden and surprising act of violence changes everything, forcing the group to come to grips with the very real effects of seemingly innocent office banter, personal ambition, and inter-cubicle feuds. This whip-smart satire about the cannibal culture of the American marketplace is guaranteed to keep audiences talking!

Gloria is directed by Jake Staley and features the talents of Trenton Miles Carson, Kim Glover, Betsy Norton, Jacob Sidhom, Gabrielle Silveroli, and Blake Spicer.

As always, immediately following each performance, A Public Fit will continue the conversation with The Buzz, a moderated discussion of the play's themes, style, and impressions. The Buzz is an expression of APF's ongoing commitment to audience engagement, treating each production as the start of an unending conversation.

A Public Fit is committed to following and enforcing all of the recent recommendations and guidelines from the CDC/State of Nevada regarding the continuing threat of Covid-19. Towards that end, APF and the Las Vegas Clark County Library District will require the indoors wearing of masks and encourage appropriate social distancing.

Episode 2 of the second season of Behind the Buzz is now available for download. In this episode, Ann-Marie and Joe are joined by Gloria director Jake Staley and actor Gabrielle Silveroli to discuss the production process, the multi-layered themes of the play, and the brilliance of the playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. WARNING—this episode contains major spoilers! Behind the Buzz is available on favorite podcast platforms, or click here.
