In a city known for its dazzling entertainment, immersive attractions and endless ways to spend an evening, local art offered a meaningful reason to gather on Oct. 22. The Community Artist Showcase at REAL BODIES at Horseshoe Las Vegas brought together artists and community members to celebrate the attraction’s 10th anniversary while exploring the beauty and complexity of human life through creative expression.
The evening honored a decade of REAL BODIES inviting visitors to look beyond the surface and consider the remarkable structures, systems and stories that make the human body extraordinary. Through the lens of local artists, the showcase transformed the attraction into a space for artistic exploration, observation and connection.
Ten selected artists were invited to sketch the anatomical figures and collect reference photographs to inspire their work. Their finished pieces were displayed during the anniversary celebration, giving guests a fresh perspective on the anatomy displays, according to exhibit organizers.
The featured artists were Marni Fraser, Katiastrid Santillan, Payten Gregersen, Kira Lea, Glenda D. Sanchez, Christina Monique Flores, Steven Horlock, Alexia Swartz, Katarzyna Wilson and Andrea Knox.
The experience offered the artists an opportunity to study anatomical structures and translate their observations into individual creative interpretations. Sketching directly from the figures allowed them to examine the body's shapes, proportions and intricate systems, creating a foundation for artwork that could reflect both scientific detail and personal perspective.
Displaying the resulting pieces within the exhibition added another dimension to the visitor experience. Guests could view the anatomical figures alongside the artists' interpretations, encouraging them to consider how the same subject can inspire different responses depending on the observer's perspective, artistic approach and imagination.
The human body has long inspired artists. From classical sculpture and anatomical illustration to contemporary painting, drawing and mixed media, artists have explored its form to communicate ideas about identity, vulnerability, strength and the human experience. At REAL BODIES, that exploration takes on an added dimension, placing artistic observation alongside a closer look at the structures that sustain life.
The Community Artist Showcase encouraged participants to approach the anatomical figures not simply as scientific specimens but as subjects for interpretation and reflection. Each artist brought an individual perspective, showing how a shared subject can inspire a wide range of creative responses.
Beyond the opportunity to create and exhibit their work, the gathering was designed to strengthen connections between Las Vegas artists and the broader community. By bringing together 10 selected creatives and an audience of art enthusiasts, the event created a meeting point for people interested in art, anatomy, education and the stories that connect us all.
Las Vegas is home to a diverse creative community whose work spans visual art, performance, design, photography and other disciplines. Events that bring artists and audiences together help make that creative energy more visible, giving local talent opportunities to develop new work, exchange ideas and connect with people who appreciate their contributions.
The showcase also reminded everyone that art can emerge in unexpected places. An attraction devoted to the human body became a setting for drawing, observation and creative discovery, encouraging artists to look closely at familiar forms while considering the complexity beneath the surface. By placing artwork within the exhibition, organizers gave visitors a chance to experience the anatomy displays through a creative lens.

The 10th anniversary added significance to the evening. Reaching a decade provided an opportunity to celebrate REAL BODIES' place in Las Vegas entertainment while welcoming a new creative perspective into the experience. The collaboration between the attraction and local artists highlighted the potential for educational exhibits and cultural experiences to inspire artistic engagement beyond their original purpose.
For those attending, the evening was about more than sketching or gathering reference material. It was a chance to experience the attraction through an artist's eyes, appreciate the work of local creatives, and celebrate a milestone with a community that values artistic expression.
Organizers thanked everyone who chose to spend the evening supporting local art and celebrating the anniversary. Attendees' presence and creativity helped make the showcase memorable for the team and the featured artists.
At its heart, the Community Artist Showcase celebrated the connections between art, science and humanity. By bringing 10 local artists into a space devoted to understanding the human body, the event encouraged a closer look at what people share, what makes each person unique and how creative expression can help us see both in new ways.
As REAL BODIES at Horseshoe Las Vegas marks 10 years, the Oct. 22 showcase offered a fitting tribute to the curiosity and creativity that continue to bring people together. Through the featured artists' observations and interpretations, the human form became both a subject of study and a reminder of the experiences, structures and stories that unite us.
The anniversary celebration demonstrated how the intersection of art and anatomy can inspire meaningful connections, offering visitors a fresh way to engage with the exhibition while recognizing the talent and imagination of Las Vegas' local artists.
