Trailblazing LGBTQ+ Actor, Comedian, Writer, Director and Producer Continues Momentum on the Global Festival Circuit
Award-winning actor, comedian, filmmaker, and LGBTQ+ trailblazer Jason Stuart is earning international recognition as his provocative new indie feature REDLINING has been officially selected for a growing list of prestigious film festivals across the United States, Canada, and Europe throughout 2026.
Co-written, directed, produced by, and starring Stuart, REDLINING continues to resonate with audiences and festival programmers alike for its fearless storytelling, emotional depth, and timely exploration of systemic inequality, identity, and exclusion. The film delivers an unflinching look at generational wealth, inherited privilege, and the emotional realities of marginalization through nuanced performances and emotionally charged storytelling. At a time when national conversations surrounding gerrymandering, voting rights, economic disparity, and social division continue to dominate the political landscape, REDLINING feels especially urgent and relevant. The film examines how systems designed to divide communities socially, economically, and politically continue to shape opportunity and identity in America today, making its themes strikingly timely in the current political climate.
The film has been selected for the following 2026 film festivals and showcases:
OUR PRIDE LGBTQ Shorts & Arts Fest – May 18
Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase (Virtual) – June 30
LGBTQ+ Toronto & Los Angeles Film Festivals (Virtual) – June 30
International Film Fest Germany – July 11
Tarzana International Film Festival – October 2–4
“REDLINING is deeply personal to me because it examines the invisible systems that shape people’s lives, opportunities, and even their sense of belonging,” said Stuart. “In today’s political climate with ongoing debates about gerrymandering, voting rights, and who gets represented or marginalized in America, the themes of this film feel more urgent than ever. I’m honored that these festivals are embracing a story that encourages audiences to confront those realities through empathy, conversation, and art. ”
The film features an acclaimed ensemble cast including:
Alexandra Paul (Baywatch, Dragnet, American Flyers), delivering a transformative performance aging from 40 to 75 on screen
Lee Garlington (Field of Dreams, Sneakers, One Hour Photo)
Kareem Ferguson (Winning Time, Monsters)
Dalila Ali Rajah (Amsterdam and numerous Shonda Rhimes productions)
Scott Krinsky (Chuck, Tangerine, Togetherness)
As REDLINING continues its festival run, Stuart also remains active on the comedy circuit with live performances scheduled nationwide, further cementing his reputation as one of entertainment’s most authentic and enduring voices.
Stuart is an award-winning actor, stand-up comic, and LGBTQ+ activist with over 260 film and television credits. His work spans studio favorites (Kindergarten Cop, Vegas Vacation), acclaimed television (The Closer, My Wife & Kids, Goliath opposite J.K. Simmons, and Judd Apatow’s Love), and celebrated independent films including Sean Baker’s Tangerine, Ira Sachs’ Love Is Strange (with John Lithgow and Alfred Molina), and Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation, where Stuart delivered a striking turn against type as a Christian plantation owner.
