Rainbow Company Youth Theatre to present The Velveteen Rabbit

Rainbow Company Youth Theatre, a city of Las Vegas program, presents The Velveteen Rabbit at Charleston Heights Arts Center Dec. 3-5 and 10-12.

On Christmas Day, a young boy receives a rabbit made of velveteen that becomes one of his closest companions. The beloved story follows Rabbit in a magical world after a fairy makes him real. The Velveteen Rabbit celebrates the power of love and discovering the true meaning of what it is to be “real.”

The production was adapted by Janet Allard based upon the children’s book by Margery Williams. It is directed by Barbara Brennan, an original adult member of the Rainbow Company. View the program for a full list of the cast and crew.

This is the first time Rainbow Company will offer a sensory-friendly performance. The 2 p.m. performance on Dec. 11 will be presented in a sensory-friendly format for neurodiverse audience members; an American Sign Language interpreter will continue to be available for the hearing impaired during this Saturday matinee. Rainbow Company ensemble members are offered training in working with neurodiverse audiences as a way to ensure productions are accessible to audiences of all abilities.

The company’s 45th season also features upcoming productions of Still Life With Iris and Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical. Season ticket packages, as well as single show tickets, are available for all shows.

All current COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed; audience members are asked to wear a mask.
