Shakespeare never imagined The Taming of the Shrew by Bard at the Bar.

For the first time in a year, Bard at the Bar is performing live for an absolutely insane and craziest adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew with some seriously scintillating performances. Norma + Friends will present Dress as Girl! The Sunday in the Bar with Bard at the Bar at The Phoenix Bar and Lounge on Sept. 26.

Proceeds will benefit The Center, a beacon of hope, acceptance, and a safe haven for everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community. The Jolt Coffee Co. serves coffee and food, and The Center's programs remain to assist the surrounding neighborhoods. Its mission continues to grow to bring equality, courage, faith, and love to the LGBTQIA+ and their allies. For more info, visit thecenterlv.org.

Bard at the Bar was started in 2018 by several board members of the Shakespeare Institute of Nevada. While the first year was bumpy, the one area they excelled in was presenting 20-minute vignettes and Q&A for students in the school district about Shakespeare. It was suggested that mashup shows be presented in restaurants and lounges. For more info, visit thebard-at-thebar.com.

The Phoenix Bar & Lounge, previously known as the Escape Lounge, is under new ownership and is 100% locally gay-owned and operated. There is a 4,800-square-foot square bar with a lounge atmosphere, two daily happy hour specials, weekly karaoke, pool tables, darts, patios, and special events. The bar and lounge demonstrate pride in the community through acceptance and inclusion, communal effort, art, self-expression, and participation. Visit Facebook.com/thephoenixlv.
