Local Charity Extravaganza to Feature Celebrity Drag Performers, Dress Contest to Support People Living with HIV/AIDS
The Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the renowned community organization dedicated to advocating for HIV/AIDS awareness, proudly announces their 16th annual Red Dress charity event on Saturday, Feb. 24. To be held at The Usual Place, this year’s theme will be “Gala of GOREgeous,” a night of mystery, macabre and splendor. Proceeds from this event will support the Sisters’ AIDS Drug Assistance Program (SADAP), which provides life-saving medications to people living with HIV/AIDS.
The night's festivities promise a wealth of excitement with beats by DJ Axis and entertainment by celebrity drag queens. Former contestants from “The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula” on AMC+, including season five-star Onyx Onyx and season four-star Dahli, will ignite marvelous performances. VIP guests can also look forward to an exclusive meet-and-greet with the two drag stars.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in their “goriest” red dresses, with the red dresses being broadly defined to include skirts, kilts, gowns, kimonos, saris, togas, or dashikis. The main event is an extravaganza of regal excitement with a Red Dress Ensemble contest, including various categories for participants to showcase their creativity and individuality.
The Sin Sity Sisters will also honor several individuals from the community, inducting them into Sainthood for their consistent support of the order through their talent, sponsorship and generosity.
In addition, the event's silent auction promises a plethora of enticing items, including travel excursions, specialty clothing, show tickets, and unique artwork, among other treasures.
This extraordinary gala serves as one of two signature events held annually to support the Sin Sity Sisters' mission to promote HIV/AIDS awareness and assist those impacted by the virus. The Sisters’ other notable annual fundraising event – the Project Nunway fashion show – is held each October.
The Sin Sity Sisters have raised more than $1 million to support Southern Nevadans in need through their SADAP program. SADAP assists all individuals in the community regardless of race, age, or gender. SADAP was created to help give life-saving assistance to anyone who is 200% above the federal poverty level. For 16 years, SADAP has assisted clients with obtaining HIV/AIDS medication and health insurance, as well as helping to prevent the disease by assisting with Prep and PEP. Most clients have been able to obtain what they need within 24 to 48 hours of contacting the Sisters. In addition, the Sisters raise money for the LGBTQ+ organizations throughout the year.
