A Public Fit’s Recent Tragic Events opens on February 11

Industry night is Monday, Feb. 7, beginning at 7 p.m.

The second mainstage show of A Public Fit's 2021/22 season, Craig Wright's Recent Tragic Events, will be performed at The Usual Place Feb. 11-21.

Alone in her Minneapolis apartment, Waverly awaits the arrival of Andrew, her blind date and only opportunity to take her mind off of the horrendous situation evolving across the country in New York. Recent Tragic Events is a wildly inventive exploration of fate vs. free will, chance vs. destiny, and the importance of human intimacy in the face of unthinkable tragedy.

A ridiculously inventive comedy about a blind date launched under the worst possible conditions, Recent Tragic Events feels as current today as it did during its premiere in 2002 AND maybe even more so! Directed by Erik Amblad, the cast features the talents of Christopher Brown, Venus Cobb, Brenna Folger, Kate Sirls, and Richard Villafuerte.

Immediately following every performance of Recent Tragic Events, A Public Fit will continue the conversation with The Buzz, a moderated discussion of the play's themes, style, and impressions. The Buzz is an expression of APF's ongoing commitment to audience engagement, treating each production as the start of an unending conversation.

A Public Fit is committed to following and enforcing all of the recent recommendations and guidelines from the CDC/State of Nevada regarding the continuing threat of Covid-19. Towards that end, seating for this event has been reduced and limited. The proper and consistent wearing of face masks will be strictly enforced.

Recent Tragic Events will be performed at The Usual Place, 100 South Maryland Parkway. Showtime is 7 p.m. February 11, 14, 18, 21 and 2 p.m. February 12. 13, 19, 20. For more information or to purchase tickets, click on this link.

Originally slated to open on Feb. 4, the production was postponed one week, and current ticket holders for the original schedule should have already been contacted regarding refunds/rescheduling. Any additional questions or concerns can be addressed by emailing Lisa at lchapman@apublicfit.org.
