Cabrera Conducts Brahms @ LV Philharmonic

EVOCATIVE, POETIC AND LIFE AFFIRMING, this powerful program begins with the premiere of Jennifer Bellor’s 898 Hildegard, a piece for orchestra and chorus that intertwines excerpts from the medieval composer Hildegard von Bingen’s chants “O Vis Eternitatis” and “O Gloriosissimi Lux Vivens Angeli.” Robert Schumann attained the elusive union of music and poetry, an ultimate goal of the Romantic era artist. His music abounds with quick mood changes, tumult, profound statements, and touching delicacy, all of which is found in the Overture, Scherzo, and Finale. Championed by Schumann, Johannes Brahms’s immensely popular German Requiem is a consoling and comforting piece, providing solace to all that hear and perform it. The Las Vegas Master Singers, UNLV Concert Singers & Chamber Chorale, along with soloists Alisa Jordheim and Will Liverman join forces with your symphony orchestra to deliver a stirring performance.
