Art and wellness intersect in a uniquely grounding way with Yiddish Yoga: A Bisl Sholem (A Bit of Peace), an inviting experience that blends song and gentle movement in a setting designed to inspire. Taking place at the Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum from 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 19, the session offers participants an opportunity to slow down, reset, and reconnect through a thoughtful combination of music and accessible yoga.
Led by Heather Klein and Candace Martin, the program is designed to welcome all experience levels, making it as approachable as it is restorative. Klein, a classically trained soprano and multifaceted artist, brings a rich musical background rooted in Yiddish performance, Jewish liturgical traditions, and global influences. Her work as a composer, producer, and touring artist informs a deeply expressive song circle, while Martin guides participants through a gentle, spring-inspired yoga journey that emphasizes openness, ease, and personal comfort.
Aligned with the museum’s mission to foster creativity, mindfulness, and community connection, Yiddish Yoga creates a warm, inclusive space where participants can engage both individually and collectively. The integration of “a bisl” — just a little — movement with live music encourages a natural rhythm of grounding and renewal, allowing attendees to experience both introspection and shared energy.
Guests are encouraged to bring a yoga mat along with any blocks or supports needed for comfort. Whether drawn by the music, the movement, or the serene museum environment, attendees can expect to leave with a renewed sense of calm, connection, and joy.
The event is presented by the Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum, 5850 North Park St. Tickets are $30 (museum admission included). To register and learn more, click here.
