Symphonic Spectacular @ LV Philharmonic

LV Philharmonic presents SYMPHONIC BLOCKBUSTERS used in American radio, television and film will stir nostalgia in this electrifying program. Leaping into high gear, the concert begins with Gioachino Rossini’s famous overture from his final opera, William Tell. The orchestra manifests a boundless energy balanced with tantalizing softness as it weaves through Georges Bizet’s infamous, at times ominous, Carmen Suite. The orgiastic, Bacchanale, from Camille Saint-Saens’s opera, Samson and Delilah, delivers vivid punctuation to end the stimulating first half. Franz von Suppé’s triumphant Light Cavalry Overture opens the second half, sweeping the audience into twists and turns before giving way to Alexander Borodin’s exotic Polovetsian Dances, from his unfinished opera, Prince Igor. Johann Strauss’s masterful and beloved, Blue Danube Waltz, provides the lush and rhythmic finale to the evening, simultaneously thrilling, evocative and satisfying.
