Sunshine, Songs and Celebration: Las Vegas Men’s Chorus Presents Fun in the Sun June 27-28

By Debbie Hall

As temperatures rise across Southern Nevada, the Las Vegas Men's Chorus is inviting audiences to trade the desert heat for beach vibes as it closes its 33rd season with Fun in the Sun on June 27 and 28 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall.

Promising “high tides and good vibes,” the season finale showcases the chorus's growth and talent, transforming the concert hall into a summer paradise filled with beloved songs and dazzling performances.

The chorus has grown from 10 members in 1993 to more than 100 singers, with many passionate men. "I think what we provide is a real sense of community. We saw our numbers start to grow exponentially after the pandemic. There were a lot of people looking to be part of something and to be around others again. I also believe strongly that quality breeds quality and quantity. We wouldn't have grown if we weren't doing great work and offering high-level productions. Our high-level elements of membership retention and community have really allowed us to continue," explained Artistic Director Ryan Duff.

The concert's musical lineup reflects the diversity that has become a hallmark of the chorus. Audiences can expect favorites from The Beach Boys, Pharrell Williams, Lady Gaga, and many other artists spanning decades and genres. Some of the beloved songs include "Rock the Boat," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Under the Boardwalk," "Happy," and "Dancing in the Street." The result is a vibrant musical journey that captures the carefree spirit of the season while showcasing the versatility and talent of the ensemble.

The Las Vegas Men's Chorus has become a key part of Southern Nevada's cultural scene, fostering community, diversity, and inclusion through song.

"We live in an entertainment-saturated city. A lot is going on here, and so it's all about finding our niche, what we do well, and we're the largest men's chorus in the state. We're the only chorus of our kind in town that does this kind of production. We identify ourselves within the arts and cultural landscape through performance, especially through community outreach concerts. We give free art back to the community, in addition to our ticketed stage concerts. We're doing outreach with Aid for AIDS for Nevada, the state of Nevada, and the Clark County School District."

The season finale also honors Duff, whose creative vision and leadership have been central to the chorus's success and artistic growth over the years.

"Every concert, I am commissioned for a work for the group and write a piece for the group to perform as the world premiere," Duff said. "I'm super excited that this year I was able to do one for the holiday show, and I did one for the Best of the Boys in March, and another one of my newest arrangements will be featured at this concert."

Today, the organization reaches thousands of audience members annually through its Mainstage Concerts and Community Concert Series. Community members are encouraged to join our mailing list, follow us on social media, or participate in outreach programs to stay connected and support our mission of creating welcoming spaces where performers and audiences experience connection, acceptance, and belonging.

That sense of community will be front and center during Fun in the Sun. While the concert delivers all the excitement of a summer party—with beach-themed music, energetic choreography, and uplifting performances—it also serves as a reminder of the role the arts play in bringing people together.

With more than 100 voices filling the stage, accompanied by a full band and dancers, the production offers the scale and excitement of a major entertainment event while maintaining the warmth and authenticity that have defined the Las Vegas Men's Chorus for more than three decades.

As Season 33 comes to a close, Fun in the Sun promises to send audiences into the summer smiling, singing along, and perhaps even dreaming of a day at the beach—even in the middle of the Mojave Desert.
